Created in 2013 in Berlin in the district of Wedding, himmelbeet is an intercultural community garden consisting of more than 300 raised-beds. Half of the beds are
used in common; the other half are rented for the length of the season. Himmelbeet is a space open to everyone regardless of age, gender, cultural origin, social status or disability. Visitors can meet others and learn together, enjoy the delicacies of our low-waste cafe, follow our cultural program (live music, open-air cinema, puppet show…) and get involved in a wide range of sustainable activities: environmental workshops (bees, worms, medicimal herbs…), community cooking sessions, baking day in our clay ofen, upcycling group, urban gardening history group, seeds assembly.
The team of himmelbeet is as well providing support in terms of planning, construction and maintenance to others community gardens in social housing areas.
Wednesday 13. September, 9:00-12:00, Excursion 7.
